Three study routines
The post-session review, the weekly range audit and study group sharing. Three concrete routines, with how long each takes.
Knowing the tool is worth nothing without a routine. Here are the three that pay the most, in the order you should adopt them.
1. The post-session review (15 to 20 minutes)
This is the best habit a player can build, and the only one that is genuinely non-negotiable.
- After your session, pick 3 to 5 hands where you hesitated. Not the biggest pots: the ones you were unsure about.
- Open the Lab and paste the hand history (hand import).
- Assign the villain's range from what you observed: their position, their profile, their actions street by street.
- Read the verdict. Was your call, fold or raise correct?
- Look at the composition bar. Did the villain's range hold more strong hands than you expected? More draws?
- Write a note about what you learned, not about what you decided.
- Move to the next hand.

The classic trap: only reviewing hands you lost. A hand won on a bad call is still a bad call, and that is the one that costs you over time.
2. The weekly range audit (30 minutes)
- Open Ranges.
- Pick one position for the week.
- Reread the range: are there hands you open that have no business being there? Any missing?
- Cross-reference your History: if a hand keeps losing in a specific spot, the question is worth asking.
- Update the range.
One position a week is six positions in six weeks, and a full pass over your preflop game twice a quarter. Far more effective than trying to redo everything on a Sunday.
3. Study group sharing
- Analyze a hand where you are not sure of the right play.
- Share the link with your group (History for one hand, My Hands for a whole session).
- Each person opens the link and builds their own version with their own range assumption.
- Compare. The interesting question is not "who is right" but "at which range assumption do our conclusions diverge".
This is the format that improves players fastest, because it makes the disagreement about the range visible rather than about the decision.
Where to start
Run routine 1 alone for a month. It is enough to build the habit and fill your History. Routines 2 and 3 only pay once you have material to audit and share.
